"Asian American Allies of LGBT People of Faith"

The Bay Area Coalition of Welcoming Congregations and API Family Pride hosted a weekend workshop on Saturday, 4 November 2006 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Fremont United Methodist Church (2950 Washington Boulevard, Fremont, California).

Entitled "Asian American Allies of LGBT People of Faith," the workshop began with a screening of Lina Hoshino’s film In God’s House: Asian American Lesbian and Gay Families in the Church.

Following the film and lunch, the following panelists took part in a roundtable discussion with those in attendance:

  • Belinda Dronkers-Laureta (API Family Pride)
  • Rev. Nobu Hanaoka (Bethany United Methodist Church, San Francisco)
  • Jeffrey Kuan (Associate Professor of Old Testament, Pacific School of Religion)
  • Rev. Michael Yoshii (Buena Vista United Methodist Church, Alemda, California)
